United States Senate
Washington, DC 20510
Dear Senator,
I am writing to request your attention to a very important matter concerning
our nation's youth. Our children are being exposed to vulgar, graphic and often time’s
violent images accidentally and intentionally because we have literally no
safeguards in place on the Internet to protect them. I feel very strongly
that adult content sites should be required to validate a visitors age prior
to allowing any adult images to be viewed. In the past year, 3
pornographic web sites have become some of the most popular web sites in the
entire world and the majority of the traffic on all 3 sites come from the
United States. There is no barrier to entry into any of these
sites, so anyone who is old enough to click a mouse can enter them.
Please visit any of these
web sites to see the content available to our children:
www.megarotic.com - currently the
20th most popular site on the internet.
www.YouPorn.com - currently the 28th
most popular site on the internet.
www.redtube.com - the fastest
growing site in history, it grew 183% in just the last 3 months.
These sites do not simply show nude
pictures, but graphic XXX videos. Another site www.pornotube.com
has an entire collection of Gay Sex videos that any child could watch
for free. Additionally, due to the massive success of these first 4
sites there are now dozens of copycat sites popping up every month.
I understand that adult
content providers have always found protection under the first amendment.
Therefore, I am not suggesting legislation to ban adult sites or even
limit them. As a parent, I am simply asking that you provide protection for children
online that is equal to the measures that have been taken offline.
A simple and low-cost solution would be legislation that
requires any sites displaying adult content that contains nudity or graphic
material to verify age prior to entering the content area. Websites have
the means of conducting this process without tremendous capital; since most
sites are already setup to sell paid memberships. Through a simple validation
process will visitors will provide a valid credit card or Sex Key to ensure that the person
is not a minor. The process of credit card validation will keep most
children under age 16 from accessing inappropriate material. In addition,
all credit card charges for adult material should clearly state the web site
URL on the credit card statement. This will deter children from using their
parent’s credit card to gain access to the material.
I want to thank you for your consideration and welcome
your call if you have any additional questions or input. If you would like
more information to assist you in your due-diligence, please visit the
